A blue glass fire grenade of bulbous form with rough sheared flared mouth, elongated neck, four flattened panels to the body set within diamond diapering, on four feet, marked HARDENS HAND / FIRE / EXTINGUISHER / GRENADE on one side and PATENTED / No. 1 / AUG. 8 1871 / AUG. 14 1883 on reverse; ht. 6.75 in.Â

Condition
Rim rough with chips. Mold line through side with patent information. Above one foot is a chip-like spot, believed to be from a burst bubble after being removed from the mold.
