Description
Egypt, Late Dynastic, Ca 664 to 30 BCE. Fine bronze statuette of a standing Bes, Egyptian deity worshipped as a protector of the household - right hand raised holding knife to his plumed headdress. In this somewhat rarer pose, Bes is shown ready to defend the household and as demonstrated by the papyrus, also ready to defend the homeland of Egypt. 5-5/8" H.
