Description
Hellenistic, found in Turkey, Ca 2nd century BCE. Depicts the famous Herakles, modeled with curly beard and hair, eyes almost diamond shaped. Entire bust covered in nice root marks. 5-1/2"H. Custom stand.
Provenance: Ex-private collection of William Dale, a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's, who acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures during his tenure.
