Description
Roman Empire, Ca 1st century CE. Unusually large yellow/green glass vessel once used to hold precious oils; in bulbous form, with short neck and broad flat rim, twin handles to the sides - wheel cut grooves in the sides. 4-7/8" H x 5" D.
Provenance: Ex-private collection of William Dale, a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's, who acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures during his tenure.
