Description
Roman Empire, ca. 2nd to 3rd centuries CE. Heavy lead, rectangular sarcophagus panel, having cast relief decoration, upper relief band decorated with a leafy vine with berries pattern. Two lower rectangular registers, one decorated with two dolphins and a winged griffin. The other panel with a central Medusa head in a roundel and two dolphins, and leaves. Three columns divide the registers. 21-1/4" W x 10-1/4" H. Custom stand.
