Description
Western Turkey, Anatolia, Yortan culture, Ca 2500 BCE. Blackware pouring vessel in a form that was later to be named a lagynos. Bulbous base with distinct midsection, long neck, flared rim and rounded handle - all covered in dark brown slip. 8-1/2" H.
Provenance: Ex: Collection of William Dale. Mr. Dale was a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's and acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures.
