*MORT KÜNSTLER LEE/JACKSON STEIN….Stoneware, raised-relief and transfer decoration. Lee at Fredericksburg takes place on Princess Anne Street at 9:40 a.m. on November 20, 1862. On his horse, Traveler, General Robert E. Lee, along with General James Longstreet, ride down Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg with their entourages. Fredericksburg became on one of the most fought-over cities during the Civil War. General 'Stonewall' Jackson Enters Winchester, Virginia on May 25, 1862, after stubborn resistance from the forces of Union General Nathaniel Banks. This painting depicts the first time Winchester had been liberated from a long and harsh period of Union control and the Confederates were welcomed as conquering heroes. The images are framed by a raised Victorian border. Glazed bands at the top and bottom complete the body design. An antiqued solid pewter lid with embossed Confederate and Union Flags and cannon ball thumblift are permanently attached to the handle.….
