Description
Athens, Greece, Ca middle 5th century BCE. Small pottery oil vessel called a Lekythos, with cylindrical body, short foot, thin neck and flared spout. Sides are decorated with repeating palmettes, rays along shoulders. Nice example! 4-3/4" H.
Provenance: Ex-private collection of William Dale, a career diplomat stationed in Turkey in the early 1960's, who acquired a vast collection of Greek, Roman and Near-Eastern treasures.
