[Mark Twain]. Samuel L. Clemens Inscribed Photograph Signed "S.L. Clemens." Affixed to a Warren's mount to an overall size of 4.25" x 6.5", the humorist is seen in profile in a sepia-toned, chest up, oval portrait. On the verso he has inscribed to Mrs. Enbury: "With the kindest regards of her friend & fellow - summer - boarder, [signed] S.L. Clemens ('Mark Twain') Montowese House, July 17, 1881." The Montowese House was a popular hotel located in Branford, Connecticut, where Twain had spent the summer of 1881. Spots of foxing are seen at the upper edge of the mount, else fine.
