Gage re: concern for the recent battle of Lexington and Concord. ......."we wish not to exaggerate....but by the best intelligence...the late transaction was a most unprovoked attack upon thelives and property of his Majesty's subjects...it is feared therefore that we are devoted to destruction and that you have...intention to ravage & desolate the country...,why is the town of Boston now shut up?" Includes Gage's lengthy reply signed Thomas Gage. Talks also of Benjamin Franklin's arrival to the 2nd Continental Congress. Edited by Thomas Paine. An octavo-size issue with 44 pgs.
