Description
An 1851 letter from Daniel Webster (1782 - 1852) thanking the receiver of the letter for a gold pen which he is enjoying. At the top of the page he has written Revere House. Revere House was an upscale Boston hotel which housed many celebrities at various times including Charles Dickens, several Presidents, King Edward Vll, Jenny Lind, etc. A portrait of Daniel Webster hung for many years at the Revere House. A large watermark which takes up a large portion of one side of the folded sheet depicts a seated Britania with a shield & trident. 6" H x 8" W. The letter has two 1" tears at the ends of the horizontal folds, with stains most prominent at the folds.
