VERY RARE 28” FRENCH BISQUE POUPEE BY BRU, WITH PATENTED WOOD ARTICULATED BODY. Marks: L. Bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate, pale complexion with plump cheeks, blue paperweight eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, closed mouth, accented lips, pierced ears, human hair wig, cork pate, all-wooden body with dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles with extra pivot-jointing at waist, antique underclothing, newer taffeta gown. Commentary: Rare large size poupee having finest quality pale bisque and lovely facial decoration; 1868 Bru patented, fully-articulated wooden body, some wear to body finish, kid strip has been painted, otherwise all excellent condition.
