26 stories about Jewish family life in many communities in Western and Eastern Europe, and even communities from the Middle East. By Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. Paris, 1888. Published by Quantin. 125 deluxe copies were printed. Many tens of original, attractive black-and-white illustrations (one in color). By artists: Gerardin, Alphons Levy, Emil Levy, Heinrech Levy, Eduard Loevy, Schlesinger, Vogel and Worms. 27 illustrations on complete pages on one side only of the leaf.
The illustrations were made by heliogravure, one picture per story.
French. 28 cm. [14], iv, 282, [12] pages, quality paper. 27 picture plates on thick, quality paper.
Original marbleized paper and green leather binding. Gilt title on backstrip. Upper cut leaves with gilt. Aging stains. Fine-very fine condition
The author was a 19th century Austrian author.
