Gaetan Picon, hand-written letter to Francis Bacon dated Vendredi. Single page written in French 10½" x 8½", signed. In connection with a proposal to write a book about Bacon. Following publication of the Sylvester interviews in French interest in Bacon became much greater in France and in 1976 an exhibition was held in Marseilles at the Musee Cantini. Picon wrote the introduction to the catalogue for the exhibition, which set a precedent for future presentations carrying, as it did, numerous quotes from the Sylvester interviews emphasizing the painter's own views on his art and its implications.
