Description
Pre-Columbian, Columbia, Tairona culture, ca. 800-1500 CE. Impressive necklace comprised of jadeite and clam shell beads. We have sixteen clam shell beads carved to represent curved, pointed animal teeth or claws, balanced and symmetrically arranged (eight on each side) nicely spaced with circular shell beads and disk-shaped jadeite beads. A large female figural pendant carved from the same hefty shell embellished with lovely incised markings is suspended from two tubular shell beads with jadeite disk spacers. A modern clasp joins two strands of jadeite beads at the neckline. 24"L bead necklace without pendant; pendant is 2-1/4"L x 1-1/2"W at widest
