Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, Peru, Inca, ca. 1500 CE. Characteristic of Inca textiles, we see symmetrically arranged woven stripes in shades of red, brown, burgundy, yellow ochre, and grey-black created with tightly packed weft-faced plain weave. Interspersed are three narrow stripes divided into small rectangular panels that feature abstract, stylized geometric motifs. An embroidered border on the periphery finished the piece quite elegantly. Mounted on beige linen. Textile itself measures 43"L x 21-1/2"W
