One with ribbon in her hair, her left hand holding up an apple, the right hand raised to the back of the head
The other figurine with raised right hand and the left hand to the hip
Plinth mounted on a cube-shaped marble base

Charming pair of small historicizing bronzes of the Berlin sculptor Rasmussen. The current highest auction record for a bronze by Rasmussen is more than €2,000

The present female bronze figurines by the sculptor Otto Rasmussen stand out for their elegant form and the harmonious combination of the dark patinated bronze and the light marble base. The antique-like figures exude lightness and elegance and enhance every living environment with a stylish and esthetic note.


The figures bear the carved artist’s signature ‘Otto Rasmsusen’ to the back of the plinth. They are in good condition, showing light wear marks. The bases are slightly chipped. The overall heights, including the marble bases, are 22 and 23 cm.


Otto Rasmussen (*1845)

Born in Berlin, the sculptor Otto Rasmussen was mainly active in Dresden. He produced mostly small bronzes with animal depictions and female nudes. The representations of Amazons on horseback and the portraits of the Old Fritz were among his favorite subjects. Rasmussen's works are internationally sought-after collectors’ items, being on sale in major auction houses, including Sotheby’s.
