A SILVER-GILT AND CARVED WOOD CRUCIFIX Greek, Mount Athos, 19th century The front of the cross carved with the crucified Christ and with the four Evangelists to the terminals; the reverse with the Baptism of Christ to the centre and four further saints to the terminals. The cross contained within a silver-gilt case engraved with scrolling foliage and on a stem and openwork foot. Later control mark on the mount, minimally filed off. Wormholes. 19.5 cm high.
VERMEIL-MONTIERTES KREUZ Griechenland, Berg Athos, 19. Jh. Silber, vergoldet, Holz, geschnitzt. H. 19,5 cm. Repunzierung auf der Montierung. Ornamental durchbrochen gearbeiteter Fuß mit kanneliertem Schaft. Das geschnitzte Holzkreuz von fein gravierter Montierung aus vergoldetem Silber gefasst. Frontal Darstellung der Taufe Christi, rückseitig Kreuzigung Christi. Montierung seitlich etwas angefeilt, Wurmlöcher.
