Description
first edition , introduction by Marinetti, lightly foxed, edges a little darkened, original red wrappers printed in black, fictional "20000 copieee" issue statement to lower cover in futurist typography, small mark to upper cover, a little faded, [Salaris p.27], Milan, Edizioni futuriste di Poesia, small 4to, 1916. This futurist poem, Piedigrotta , is inspired by a traditional Napolitan feast with extraordinary fireworks. These evenings were originally introduced for literary and artistic pursuits, but they often turned into uncontrollable riots; making Cangiullo's text explosive in both content and form. The pyrotechnic typography of the title and cover illustration also reflect the threat of Mt. Vesuvius that towers over the gulf of Naples.
