PAIR OF CHINESE SCROLLS - Qing Dynasty, Emperor Kangxhi Imperial Scrolls on Silk of Birds on Flowering Branches by Chiang T'ing-hsi/Jiang Tingxi (1668-1732), Official Painter and Secretary to the Imperial Court, Teacher of Ma Yi, editor of the Encyclopedia "Gujin Tushu Jicheng (Complete Collection of Illustrations and Writings from Earliest to Current Times), published in 1722. Translation of the inscriptions on both, which are identical, is "Painted in the Reign of K'ang Hsi during the summer months of 1721 after staring at the sun, by Nan-sha, Ch'ang T'ing-hsi." In gold box frames, under plexi, with later brocade borders. OS: 69" x 20 3/4", SS: 61" x 16 3/4". Toned, minor wrinkling, wormage.
