EPHEMERA FROM THE HENRY WARE LYON ESTATE - Includes: (4) Presidential Appointments; Commission to Rank of Ensign, March 1868; Appointment to Rank of Master, March 1869; Commission to Rank of Commander, 1893; Commission to Rank of Captain, April 1900: (16) US Naval Orders ranging from May 1895 to Sept 1907: US Naval Court Martial Papers regarding the 1867 loss of the USS 'Sacramento' in China and the 1891 grounding of the tug 'Triana': Southern Cross 1st Trans-Pacific Flight, very rare original 1928 contract of Harry Lyon, who was the Navigator on the historic 1928 flight, inc. letters from the crew, clippings etc.; Rear Admiral Lyon Commendation Letters, inc. 1st class Order of St. Olaf, French Legion of Honor, etc. Rear-Admiral Henry Ware Lyon retired in 1907. Some have been folded, some water stained, brittle, some edge rippling, some good condition.
