Description
Civil War chromolithograph, with "warranted oil colors", of Daniel Webster. This was made by E.C Middleton, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of chromolithographs. The oval shaped portrait comes in the original frame. The chromolithograph would have been carefully glued onto the canvas that it is currently on. The back of the canvas reads "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1868 by E.C Middleton, In the Clerk's office of the district C art for the Southern District of Ohio, Cincinnati." The frame has two cracks and chips, the work has some scrapes and indentations. Overall good condition. 21 by 18 inches. 0
