Description
GERMAN MEISSEN PORCELAIN FIGURAL LIQUOR DISPENSER AND STAND, dispenser formed as a barrel, painted with grapes on the vine within the gilt bands, the canted-cornered, rectangular cover with grape cluster knop, the barrel topped by the figure of a drunken Hussar, holding a goblet of wine in his hand. The stand of scrolling rococo tripodal form, the top section incurvate to hold the barrel, a figure of a putto on each scroll knee, each holding an item related to drinking. The sides of the stand painted with peaches, cherries and other liqueur fruit and hop-trellis, grape leaves and elder flowers. Mid-19th century. 17" HOA.

Condition
Spigot to barrel absent, the hussar with reglued head and left arm, his coat with some retouched cracks and lacking some buttons. Tip of hat chipped. Two putti on the stand missing extremities, very light chips to top edge. Minor gilding wear.
