Superb "Woodrow Wilson" Presidential Stamped Signature
(WOODROW WILSON) (1856-1924). 28th President of the United States (1913-1921).
September 5, 1919-Dated, Partially-Printed Document Signed, “Woodrow Wilson” as President, measuring 23” x 19”, Washington, Very Fine. An original Appointment for “Walter F. Boyle, of Georgia”, making him a, “Consul of Class Six.” Countersigned, “William Phillips” as Acting Secretary of State. Edge stains at upper left, minor soiling. The large, impressive 2.5" diameter Federal Embossed Gold Paper Seal is fully intact. A boldly printed example for display, having a large 2.75" long and bold "Woodrow Wilson" signature stamped in vivid purple ink.
Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) was President of Princeton University and Governor of New Jersey prior to his 1912 Presidential election, in which he defeated Taft and Roosevelt. He served as President of the United States from 1913 to 1921. A Progressive, he decided to enter World War I because of Germany's continued aggression. He proposed the Fourteen Points peace plan, but his League of Nations was defeated. A stroke left him incapacitated the last two years of his term.
