Orville Wright Autograph on First Day of Issue Cover Stamp Commemorating 25th Anniversary of Flight
ORVILLE WRIGHT. Aviation Pioneer and First Man to Fly.
December 17, 1928-Dated First Day Postal Cover, commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the First Airplane Flight, measuring 4” x 9.25”, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Extremely Fine. This historic Cover shows a cachet advertising the Anniversary of the First Flight in 1903, with a green hand stamp of Icarus. Signature of “Orville Wright” is at upper left corner of hand stamp. Signature of “B.B. Lipsner” is at lower left of cover. Back has blue over print which reads in part, “...I accompanied Orville Wright from Washington, D.C. to Kill Devil Hill, N.C. On the entire pilgrimage I carried the commemorative cover and finally mailed it personally at the place and on the date as postmarked.”
