Interesting Pair Flintlock Pistols
c. 1785-1790, Interesting Pair Flintlock Pistols, Possibly of American Manufacture. Fine
An interesting pair of Flintlock Pistols with European form and possibly made by American gunsmiths HALBACH & SON of Baltimore, Maryland. 7", .56 cal. octagon-to-round-to- cannon muzzle iron barrels (one struck on left side of breech on flat “H & S” Halbach & Son ?). Brass furniture is in the form consistent with known existing Halbach made pistols including trigger guards with acorn finials. Several variety's exist, but all conform to a basic style and form. 12.5" overall length. Both 'round-faced' locks are unmarked. All steel parts have salt & pepper pitting (some areas heavier than others). Both pistols are in their original flintlock configuration. Both stocks are original; one with a break through the wrist, age stress cracks, missing chips, scratches and dings from years of handling. Both pistols are in good mechanical working order.
