US Military Model 1836 Flintlock Service Pistol
c. 1841, US Military Model 1836 Flintlock Service Pistol by “R. JOHNSON”, Fine.
U.S. Military Model 1836 Flintlock Service Pistol by; “R. JOHNSON”. 8.5" .54 cal. round iron barrel stamped at breech with inspector's marks “J H” over a “P”, and brass blade front sight. 14" overall length. Lock stamped with maker's mark “R. JOHNSON, MIDDN. CONN. 1841” below 'U S', inspector's mark, original flintlock configuration. Captive ram rod. Stock has 2 clear inspector's cartouches stamped on the left side of stock at the rear of side plate; is solid with scratches and dings from years of service. A nice uncleaned example in good working order.
