Item Details
Description
Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Ca 100 to 300 CE. Extremely rare knife of the type used by the Moche in ceremonial sacrificial rites, atop which stands a gold representation of Ai Apec standing upon a small platform holding a staff in his right hand and a small offering in his left hand. As Ai Apec is virtually incessantly transforming his physical state, snake-head appendages emerge from his shoulders and amazingly, small wings on his back. The deity is wonderfully bedecked in turquoise inlays. Custom stand. 8-1/4" H by 5/8" W Custom stand included.
