Description
Exceptionally fine voided and painted silk velvet on purple satin ground having a large scale pattern of flowering branches. Said to have been worn at the Imperial Court of China (possibly by secondary wife of Puyi) and given by American ambassador to China as a wedding gift in the 1930's to the grandmother of present owner, 54 x 57 long. (Several faint water stains along shoulders) Very good.
