These figures were most probably carved in the village of Ilaro or Ado Odo and from the atelier of Eshubiyi-Akinyode

This Ibeji pair of the Yoruba people from Nigeria was crafted in circa 1930. The fine pair of male and female Ibejis shows ritual use with a high glossy patina. Both figures have fine striated coiffures and protruding eyes. The cavities are missing the inlay of aluminum that is found on figures from this era. There are scarifications on cheeks, chest and abdomens of each figure. Both their foreheads are of classical elliptical diamond form. The figures were most probably carved in the village of Ilaro or Ado Odo and from the atelier of Eshubiyi-Akinyode.
