A finely shaped figure in the typically abstract style of the Mezcala
This rebirth figure is made of a beautiful green andesite stone which has a white quartzite inclusion. It was made by the Mesoamerican Mezcala Culture in Mexico, which has its origins in the state of Guerrero. The square, slightly rounded head has stylized eyebrows which are carved into the stone. The mouth has the typical oval shape of this culture and the arms are indicated by delicate notches. The legs are straight and parallel and correspond to the wedge-like shape of this very interesting figure.
The figure of the Mezcala-Culture impresses with its two-tone, smooth polished Andesit stone which has a beautiful white quartzite inclusion. The head was broken off and has been reattached. The dimensions are 14.5 cm (height) and 5.5 cm (width). (tfa)
