RARE CHANCAY MOTHER AND CHILD. Peru, ca. 800-1200 AD. The standing figure with outstretched arms and high conical hat, a small molded and painted child in a carrier on her back. 4.3 x 7 inches. Museum number on feet. Rare depiction in Chancay art.
Provenance: An extensive East Coast Pre-Columbian collection. Acquired from a New York ancient art dealer in the late 20th century.
