Description
An unusual painted enamel tea caddy, 18th century , of rectangular section, with a stepped spreading foot and a circular mouth, decorated, on the two main faces, with a pair of addorsed eagles holding a flower in their beaks, enclosing a raised panel depicting a butterfly and a rose, the narrow faces with floral shrubs of lilies and camelias, against a ground of scrollig lotus, 19cm high 清å八世纪 铜胎画çç…茶å¶ç½ A comparable example is found in the Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg and illustrated in Arapova, Chinese painted enamels , 1988, pl. 11, n. 17.
