In 1965 he was honoured at the White House Festival of Arts, alongside Georgia O`Keeffe and Jackson Pollock.He also belonged to the group `Metcalf Chateau`; a group of seven artists who all had ties with Honolulu. His work can be found in the collections of the Guggenheim, the Hawaii State Art Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art, amongst many others.The present piece is from Sato`s `Submerged Rocks` series, which were inspired by the clear waters of Hawaii.
