The documentary photographer Rainer Riedler deals with important topics of the present day. His pictures are always focused on the human being in correspondence to the environment. His project ‘Fake Holidays’ begun in 2004 and presents a selection of faked idylls, where feelings of adventure and holiday are deliberately simulated. Riedler’s pictures reveal in fact answers to his questions of what is nowadays ‘nature’ and how is the relationship between ‘nature’ and human being defined.



The present case was published by Blue Moov Editions and presents 10 C-prints of the series ‘Fake Holidays’ in a decorative box: ‘The Talk’, Ski Dubai, Dubai, 2006; ‘Horizon #01’, Tropical Islands, Germany, 2007; ‘St. Peters Square’, Tobu World, Japan, 2009; ‘Wedding Couple’, Window of the World, Shenzhen, China, 2008; ‘Superman Over Red Square’, 2006; ‘Wild Florida’, 2005; ‘Minsk World’, Shenzhen, China, 2008; ‘Karaoke Club’, Tokyo, Japan, 2009; ‘Niagara Falls’, Window of the World, Shenzhen, China, 2009; ‘Indoor Skiing’, Neuss, Germany, 2004.



The C-prints as well as the cardboard box are in very good condition with only minimal traces of wear. The lid of the case bears a typographic label inside, signed by the artist ‘Rainer Riedler’ as well as numbered ‘18/[30]‘. The photograph ‘Superman Over Red Square’, 2006 is framed and comes separately inside the box. The image size of each picture is 21.5 x 27 cm and the sheet sizes are 22.7 x 30.5 cm. The dimensions of the case are 33.5 x 26 x 6.5 cm.



Rainer Riedler (b. 1968)

Rainer Riedler was born in Gmunden, Austria, and studied photography in Vienna. He visited the Danube University of Krems, in order to receive further training in Image Sciences. Since 1989, he is active as a documentary photographer. His works always reveal human beings in their environment and follow the aim of challenging our value system. His photographs have been presented in a number of solo and group exhibitions, including the Kunsthalle Schirn in Frankfurt, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Leopold Museum in Vienna. Examples of his artistic output have also been published in well-known magazines, such as the National Geographic, the STERN or The New York Times. Riedler lives and works in Vienna. (cbo)
