Wolfgang Joop’s drawings are deeply related to paintings by Tamara de Lempicka, known for her impressive characterizations of the 1930s. Besides, he seeks inspiration from the expressive and slightly disruptive compositions by Egon Schiele

Wolfgang Joop’s drawings are meant to be ‘art for art’s sake’. They are presented on vibrant background colors, but do not claim any deeper meaning. The drawings are designed to look as if they had been executed almost without effort. In return, Joop tries to capture his personal concept of beauty which is deeply inspired by the zeitgeist. The present work ‘Black Men’s Fashion – Back From N.Y.’ is an interesting example of Joop’s artistic approach and captivates through its reduced and yet confident style.

The Lambda color print is in mint condition. It is number 77 from a limited edition of 100 copies and has been laminated on Alu-Dibond. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 140 x 100 cm. The LUMAS edition certificate with all typographic indications on the work is enclosed and has been signed by the artist ‘W Joop’.
