Carl Wuermer (German-American 1900-1981) oil on canvas entitled “Valley From a Hillside”. Beautifully detailed image of a snow covered valley with a small village seen through a copse of birch trees with a large hill in the background. Signed lower right and bearing an original paper label which reads “# 443 “A Valley From a Hillside” by Carl Wuermer Canvas: 24x31 inches.” Another label reads “Painted on Linen-canvas with Windsor & Newton Oil Colours” and signed in pen by the artist. The original frame is marked in black paint “Prop of Carl Wuermer.” Sight size is 23 1/4 by 30 1/2 inches. With frame 30 1/2 by 37 1/2 inches. Excellent original condition. Purchased through Knoke Fine Arts in Marietta, Georgia many years ago. Wuermer is well known for his fine detail and wonderful use of snow.
