Notable Tiffany & Company “Scroll & Key” sterling silver presentation tyg, dated 1903. Bestowal engraving for “Margaret S. Sherlock and W. Ernst Minor, November 10, 1903. The symbolic “Scroll & Key” logo is also engraved with the societies secret letters “C.S.P.” above and “C.C.J” beneath. Additionally engraved are the 14 distinguished delegates of 1903 consisting: Charles L. Tiffany, Crispin Ogleboy, Robert Stevenson, Jr, William B. Williams, James Niedecken, Matthew Mills, Charles W. McKelvey, James, W. Barney, Frank T. Crawford, David R. Francis, Jr., Thomas A. Howell, Frederick C. Havemeyer, Malcom V. McBride and Joseph M. McCormick. Die stamped “Tiffany & Co., Sterling Silver, 925-1000” with makers 10641 & 3902 and the capacity for 5 Pints is impressed beneath. Nice gold wash interior. Measures 8 inches by 9 1/2 inches handle to handle, 6 5/8 inches across the rim. Minor pings to the handles. Scroll & Key, a historical Yale University secret senior society, founded in 1842, second oldest society to the prominent Skull & Bones Society. Mark Twain, an honorary member to Scroll & Keys, since 1868.
