Description
Scenic Vellum vase with large trees in the foreground, a lake, mountains and peach colored sky, the work of E.T. Hurley in 1907. This is typical of Hurley’s work before 1912 and has a very strong Arts & Crafts feel. Marks include the Rookwood logo, date, shape 900 B, an impressed V for Vellum and Mr. Hurley’s incised monogram. There is a wheel ground X on the bottom due to a couple of tight lines near the base that occurred during firing. There is also fine overall crazing. Height is 10 1/4 inches. Nice Arts & Crafts piece.
Condition
X’d, crazing, 2 tight lines at base
