Description

Rare set of Rookwood “Castle Gate” bookends done in a rust colored mat glaze in 1930. Designed by William McDonald, the Castle Gate bookends are among the rarest of the rare. We have sold one in 25 years: one bookend, not a pair. Marks include the company logo, the date, shape number 6154 and the fan shaped esoteric mark associated with pieces made during Rookwood’s 50th Anniversary year. Height 5 5/8 inches. Uncrazed with a tiny, unobtrusive grinding chip off base of one.

Condition

Very minor grinding chip off base. Uncrazed
