Item Details

Description

Rare Iris Glaze plaque painted with an impressionistic pastoral scene by Albert Valentien in 1895. Impressed on the back four times with the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date and having Mr. Valentien’s initials in slip on the lower left front. There are a few faint craze lines and a couple of very short glaze scratches. Size is 10 inches by 7 5/8 inches, framed to 15 5/8 inches by 13 1/2 inches. Iris Glaze plaques are exceedingly rare and this is only the second one we’ve offered in the past 10 years.
