Kimmirut (Lake Harbour), Engraved Tusk, 1973, ivory, green stone and colour, signed "DAVIDEE ITULU" and in syllabics, and dated, 12.5 x 4.75 x 4 in, 32 x 12 x 9.9 cm. ... Davidee Itulu was the undisputed master of the art of scrimshaw in the Canadian Arctic. He devoted practically his entire career (which began in the late 1940s and ended with his death) to the art form. Scrimshaw ivories are technically sculptures, but really they are a form of graphic art.
