Locomotive plate from engine 604, built in 1897, wrecked in Altoona, PA, engraved with names of crew members killed & survivors. 16" diam, approx.
NOTE: This plate is from engine of a train that WRECKED. It is not possible to get a true diameter since it is badly bent- SEE PHOTO. There is no discernable plate serial number and one of the three pins is gone.
2-21-07 NOTE:Piece of PRR notepaper with this plate and handwritten note that reads in part:
"Relic of the runaway train that left Gallitzin at 5:51PM and arrived Altoona at 6:05PM December 20th, 1897 running into a train standing at the depot wrecking 58 cars the engineer and fireman made a flying runof 13 miles in 15 minutes..."
