Commemorative chess set as a gift to Mr. Moran by President Nixon and Postmaster General Winton M. Blount for Mr. Moran's work on behalf of NASA. The brass and copper top are stamped with the craters of the moon and the chess piecesinclude astronauts, rockets, and the Lunar Excursion Module, "LEM", used in the 1969 Apollo Mission. Copy of letter from Mr. Blount and President Nixon included. Size: King 5", Pawn 2 3/4", Table 29.5" x 25".
