Description
The AEAA is very pleased to present this pair of vintage Cobalt baskets. The prize is the gorgeous 1960s Fenton Caprice basket that really has a history. Originally this lovely inverted drapery & fan pattern was produced by Cambridge Glass. Upon the Cambridge closing, molds were purchased by Imperial, and after the unfortunate closing of the Imperial Glass Works, Frank Fenton purchased a number of the mold inventory, including this caprice pattern. This is a great Fenton collectible. Our second miniature basket might be from L.E. Smith, or perhaps Westmoreland from the 1980s, but it is unmarked. Nonetheless, it is a very nice basket weave pattern, and will be a lovely cabinet display piece. This exact Fenton form can be seen on Page #69 (in Cranberry) of Volume 1 of the classic pair, Fenton Basket Patterns Acanthus To Hummingbird AND Innovation To Wisteria & Numbers / both by Debbie And Randy Coe. Our Caprice is measured for reference at 3.75 x 3.75 x 7.25 inches tall, and the pair weigh 1# 4 oz.
