This lithograph from 1962 shows four figures posing for a family portrait, a subject repeatedly varied in lithographs by Picasso in June / July 1962. The edition for this sheet was 50 signed copies as well as a few copies for the artist.

The lithograph is dated upper left in the stone ’21.6.62’. The sheet is inscribed by another hand in pencil ‘() 384’ in the lower margin. It bears a tiny upsetting with associated tear (0.4 cm) in the left edge and is overall minor, at the edges slightly stronger toned. The condition overall is good. The frame is in good condition. The image measures 48.7 x 63.9 cm, the sheet 57 x 76.5 cm. The framed dimensions are 82.7 x 97.5 cm.

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)

The Spanish painter, graphic artist and sculptor Pablo Picasso created a body of work of about 50,000 paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures and ceramics. He studied at the Royal Academy in Madrid and at the Art Academy in Barcelona, where his father taught. 1901 Picasso had his first exhibition in a gallery in Paris, followed by numerous international exhibitions. The works from his Blue and Rose period, and the establishing of cubism along with Georges Braque were the beginning of his extraordinary artistic career. The painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) is one of the best known works of Picasso. Like his monumental painting Guernica (1937), no other work has marked the art of the 20th century. Two museums, the Museu Picasso in Barcelona and the Musée Picasso in Antibes Picasso's works were for his own lifetime established. Famous for the diversity of its expressions Pablo Picasso is one of the outstanding artists of the 20th century. (fea)
