Item Details
Description
Genuine Confederate Bond Issued From 1861-1864 - Nice Very Fine Or Better Condition - Coupons Still Attached!
These bonds were issued by the Confederacy during the Civil War to raise money for the war effort. Early on, the bonds were issued out of Montgomery, the Confederate capital at the start of the war. In May 1861, the capital was moved from Alabama to Richmond; from that point on the bonds were issued from the Virginia capitol for the rest of the war.
Bonds were issued with a number of interest notes or “coupons” attached. The coupons were regularly removed and redeemed at the CSA Treasury for an interest payment ranging from $2 up to $300 for a $10,000 bond. Vignettes on the bonds feature Confederate generals and cabinet members, buildings, ships, war scenes, and sometimes mythical figures.
Date, design and bond amount are of our choice and each bond comes housed in a protective sleeve.
