A mid Victorian 9ct gold memorial brooch, designed as a bird nest, the central bird with coloured enamel detail is positioned above three white bead 'eggs' within a foliate and rope-twist surround to the vacant back panel. Diameter 3.6cms. Weight 17.9gms.

Overall fair to good condition, with light surface scratches from general wear. There is enamel to the tip of the head, tail feather and one wing, this is chipped. There are two leaves missing to the surround, the surround is possibly later added. The back panel may also be later added. The piece looks to have been re-plated. The pin is in working order. There is some small bits of debris beneath the glass. Small bits of lead solder are visible to some of the applied surround.
