A very rare coloured pair of Minton Majolica Quaker man and Quaker woman silver mounted Toby pitchers c.1865, shapes no’s 1139 and 1140, 11”h. One modeled as a smiling man with hands thrust deeply in his pockets and wearing 18th century costume with a tricorn hat, the other in the form of a female, her hair combining to form the handle, dressed in 18th century costume and holding a fan. These are very rare in that they have metal lids and more importantly, that they are wearing a green coat and a green shawl. This design would usually have a cobalt blue coat and burgundy shawl.
