Description
TWO ANNAMESE SHIPWRECK CERAMICS, VIETNAM, 15TH CENTURY, comprising a globular jar with two small loop handles at neck, celadon glazed buff colored stoneware with incised lotus decoration between bands at shoulder, height: 5 3/4", diameter: 5 1/2"; and a conical shaped earthenware storage vessel which retains faint traces of its original glazed decoration, height: 7", diameter: 4 3/8". The bottom retains the hand painted number assigned to the piece during the archaeological excavation. NOTE: These pieces are good examples of "shipwreck" wares, having been excavated from a sunken trading vessel which plied the waters of Southeast Asia.
